Wilson Sugianto

Although Wilson has just turned 16, his record in football is quite possibly one of the longest with Coach Johnson amongst all his players.  Wilson has been on the team since day one of Coach Johnson being in GMIS.  He has represented SSA on several occasions, becoming a full member this year.  He has extreme passion for the game and can take on any position on the football field with relative ease.

At the tender age of 10, Wilson not only possessed skill, but also courage to play on the same side as his older brother’s U16 & U18 team. It was a real treat to see this tiny boy putting players almost twice his age and height firmly in their places; it was the same skill which earned him a role in a local soccer movie.

Although Wilson is a quiet boy, to call him shy would be inaccurate; he comes alive on the field, initiating his notoriety amongst international school football players in and around Jakarta.  He has been the all-time number 10 in GMIS with his ability to produce goals at the right time despite being under pressure while at the same time pressurizing his opponents.

Our most memorable time with Wilson has got to be during the coca cola league while playing in his own age group U12.  As the team was down a keeper, Wilson took position in the net; not satisfied with waiting to save the ball, Wilson had the audacity to take the ball, dribble it around the tackles attempted by his opposition, straight down the side of the pitch only to score a goal. The buzz on and off the field amongst the players and spectators was truly ecstatic.

Wilson after his bungee jump in Barcelona

As would be expected, Wilson will continue in the path of soccer.  After the Barcelona trip, Wilson had plans to continue his soccer vocation in Italy; however, due to his young age, his parents later decided to send him to Melbourne Victory, Australia under the watchful eyes of other family members currently residing there.  Wilson’s departure date was too late for the trials, but he is being given the opportunity to be reviewed.  With a huge resume under his arm, we are sure Wilson will have no problem being accepted.

We wish you luck Wilson

Don't ever let that passion die,

we hope all your dreams come true.
